Luxury kitchen in style and nature by LEICHT Küchen | 3rd February, 2025 | Destinations

In this extraordinary luxury villa in the Brazilian forest, the kitchen is not just functional – it becomes the stylish centerpiece of life.

Design in harmony with nature

Living in the forest means roaming, hunting, surviving. It’s not quite that dramatic anymore, as Oscar Niemeyer’s „Brasilia“ proves. This private villa, designed with a LEICHT kitchen concept, presents itself as a small-scale version of Brazil’s jungle capital: a sweeping convex roof arch, separate areas defined by glass and natural wood, expansive seating terraces, portholes, and floor-to-ceiling windows – all allowing the surrounding forest to visually penetrate from every angle. As fascinating as this may be, the kitchen area in the depths of the building reveals itself as a straightforward, grounded space, conveying the fundamental essence of a „hearth“ as a modern kitchen to both residents and guests.

The luxury kitchen as the heart of social life

„Living is a wonderful way to develop conscious habits that simply bring happiness – that was our goal with this project in Rio de Janeiro,“ say architects Thiago Bernardes and Camila Tariki, describing their vision for the building. Like a light, airy Bossa Nova, the spaces flow seamlessly into one another. Yet, all paths seem to lead to the most important ritual – the kitchen area as the elemental and social heart of the home. Instead of presenting itself to the impenetrable jungle on a silver platter, the narrow viewing windows turn the observed into observers, especially after dusk…

A space of harmony

The elongated kitchen area mirrors both the window and table fronts in perfectly parallel lines, while the U-shaped, handleless, glossy kitchen unit captures the sweeping motion of the entire building. This design creates so much storage space that no appliances interrupt the wandering gaze. The renowned Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier shade „vert anglais pâle“ enhances the surrounding greenery while simultaneously making the kitchen shine. Complemented by natural wood flooring and equally organic, fluid dining furniture placed at the center, the space exudes warmth and elegance. No matter what sounds echo from the outside: here, one feels at home, here, one wants to stay. Luxury kitchens can indeed bring happiness.
