The Art of Traditional Chain Goldsmithing by IsabelleFa | 5th December, 2025 | Lifestyle
Since 1955, IsabelleFa’s few handcrafted jewelry pieces made from recycled gold and platinum have stood for master craftsmanship and enduring elegance.
Craftsmanship in timeless form
IsabelleFa has its origins in a small goldsmith’s workshop, which Emil Mössner founded in his hometown of Eisingen in 1955. He specialized in the production of gold chains, which were made entirely by hand, and expanded the small workshop into a goldsmith’s studio. The second generation, son Hans-Georg Mössner and his wife Isabelle Mössner, shared the love of craftsmanship and recognized the opportunity to create unique pieces of jewelry. Inspired by Isabelle and her maiden name “Fagnoul,” the brand name IsabelleFa was created in 1987. From then on, this brand would stand for timeless, simple, and distinctive jewelry from Eisingen, as well as for the craft of traditional chain goldsmithing.
Only a few hundred pieces of jewelry per year
IsabelleFa sets global standards in the art of chain goldsmithing. Over several weeks, sometimes months, every step is carried out by a master of his craft. The traditional craft techniques and ancient tools required for this belong to an almost forgotten art that was used and taught by many generations before. To this day, the heritage of a long history of goldsmithing is preserved and lived in Eisingen. This know-how and the talent of the goldsmiths enable the production of unique chains and bangles.
With each piece of jewelry, IsabelleFa sets new standards in the field of chains and bangles. In order to forge timeless classics, the goldsmiths place the highest demands on themselves and their creations. It is a question of quality and durability, an appreciation of the finest details, and a love of craftsmanship. All of this takes a great deal of time and work. As a result, there is a natural limitation on the number of pieces produced. IsabelleFa produces only a few hundred necklaces, necklaces, and bracelets per year—nothing like industrial mass production.
Sustainable and durable jewelry
IsabelleFa uses only recycled gold and platinum and works with Germany’s most sustainable refineries. All gemstones are sourced from responsible and certified sources. The jewelry is particularly notable for its durability.
Flexible gold
In 2004, IsabelleFa presented the first pieces from her now iconic Flix.Flex collection. The name symbolizes flexible necklaces and bracelets made of 18-karat gold, which can all be opened by bending them diagonally, allowing them to be slipped over the wrist or around the neck.
However, the secret of this flexibility is not, as usual, another material inside the jewelry. No titanium, no steel, no spring is used. The jewelry is made exclusively by hand from 18-karat gold in the studio in Eisingen. Using traditional forging techniques and old tools, an almost invisible open seam is forged into the inside of the jewelry. This makes the piece of jewelry itself act as a spring.
The Flix.Flex arm and neck rings are available in various purist designs and therefore offer a wide range of styling options. They are also available with a choice of brilliant white or champagne-colored diamond pavé. IsabelleFa produces only a few hundred pieces of jewelry per year and sets global standards with unique, handcrafted rings and chains.
